A nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry, Habitat for Humanity Cape May builds, preserves and finances affordable homeownership opportunities to fit our communities needs demanded by the affordable housing crisis.
We build simple and affordable homes alongside families who demonstrate need and willingness to partner with Habitat. Families invest 300 hours of their own "sweat-equity" labor into the houses. Their low-interest monthly mortgage payments help fund the construction of more houses. Inadequate shelter finds a family in struggle, where a Habitat home frees them to enjoy self-reliance and self-respect. Children benefit, neighborhoods are changed and communities are improved.
Habitat welcomes all volunteers and supporters regardless of religion, background, race or social status who share our desire to help others and create affordable housing in our community.
Advocacy is an essential part of our mission at Habitat for Humanity.
At Cape May County Habitat, we believe that no one should have to pay anywhere near half their paycheck on housing. However, nearly 19 million U.S. households are faced with this reality. If you had to choose a safe home, reliable transportation, nutritious food and/or health care which would you choose?
Homeownership and stable housing are associated with better health, educational attainment and wealth-building. Having a home matters. Help us make affordable housing a reality and make the #CostOfHome something we all can afford.
